About the zine
This zine was founded back in May 2025, when I (Dam), decided to start writing a blog for fun and, some time later, Cadence decided to join the team. Originally, this zine was supposed to be published over on Blogspot, but since that platform was pretty much dead, we decided to head over onto SpaceHey, where this zine is mainly posted to this day. Then, this Neocities was created once one of the issues on SpaceHey got removed, hence the purpose of this website being an archive, even if it's more of a mirror website, to be honest.
The name Duality was picked to represent the difference between me and Cadence: there's probably more things we don't have in common than the ones we do, but I like to think that we're still part of something, together. At the time, I was also pretty much obsessed (maybe im still a little obsessed) with the concept of polar opposites, and the stark difference between black and white, which is where the checkers background comes from.
About Dam
I was born and raised in a tiny town in Europe's countryside on March 26, and since when I was a kid, I've been drawn to the world of the arts, especially to drawing and writing, and I later ended up picking up music as well. (My parents signed me up for guitar classes when I was ten, but I gave up when I ran into the F chord, lol)
Unfortunately I've been bullied through elementary and middle school (not sure if it shapes who I am today), but fortunately, highschool has been a blessing for me. No bullies, and I got to actually develop a personality that stood out to me. My highschool years were also when I figured out I was trans, and where I write most entries of this zine. (Don't judge me, please.) Three of my biggest hobbies are drawing, writing, and playing music. (I ended up picking up my guitar again, and I got into playing drums!)
About Cadence
Cadence is a singer-songwriter from a town near Buenos Aires, Argentina. Co-founder of the zine, she's been writing alot of entries that focus on music and about what goes behind the scene (or stage?) of everything involving music production, live performing and everything else. Great singer, great guitarist and aspiring pianist, she's a great writer too, and if it wasn't for her, Duality would probably be called Unity, and the schedule of the zine would be monthly. (lol)
About Mayka Records
Mayka Records is an independent record label founded by Cadence in 2024, and is managed by yours truly. (I don't know what I'm supposed to do, though)
